The Hungarian Post celebrates the 220th anniversary of Dek Ferenc's birth with a stamp issue. The black numbered perforated and red numbered cut sheet belyegblokk, designed by graphic artist Elekes Attila Andre, was produced at the Penzjegynyomda Zrt. and will be available for purchase at post offices, Filaposta, and the Magyar Posta online store starting October 17, 2023. On this occasion, the Ministry of Justice is organizing an event series. Dek Ferenc (1803-1876), a lawyer, MP, and justice minister in the Batthyny government, laid the legal foundation for Hungary's civil transformation in 1848. Throughout the 19th century, he played a pivotal role in establishing the rule of law, both during the reform era and after the neo-absolutism's decline. He was Hungary's first justice minister and later led passive resistance after the failed revolution. His contributions to the Ausgleich are invaluable. Recognized as one of history's greatest figures, he was also a legal expert in politics.
